Formmail File Visible In URL Address

I received a message to rename my formmail file which I did. The script appears to be working but when I hit the submit button the complete new name is visible in the IE Address box and at the bottom of IE where it displays info when a page is loading. Please tell me how to correct that.

I will try and explain better.

When I first ran the script, I got a warning message to change the name of my script which I did. I of course reflected that name change in the form action field. Now when I run the script it works but I can see the name of the script in the bottom left of Internet Explorer status area. My question is that if I was told to change the script name (formmail.php) for security purposes isn't visibly displaying the file name defeating the purpose of renaming the formmail.php file?

Hi,

There's no need to change the name of formmail.php. There's no security implications in keeping that name.

Do you know what system told you to change its name? formmail.php doesn't have any code to produce such a message.

If you'd like to rename it back to formmail.php and in your form and run it again, you can send the exact message to us and we'll try to give you an answer about what's happening and why.

I changed the script to formmail.php and it now gives me that warning I was telling you about. Here is the URL again:

P.S. I understand your concern about a server that requires a name change to your script, however it is no inconvinence to me to change the name to make it work. What i really wanted to know is if the name I changed it to suppose to be displayed briefly in the IE Address box and the status display at the bottom left in IE when I click submit? If that does not compromise the script or make it vulnerable to hackers, I will proceed, I need my form working like yesterday! Thanks again.

Hi,

I've seen the message now. This message has nothing to do with us or our FormMail.

I believe this has been done by your hosting provider. You might want to contact them to ask why.

However, you will need to rename formmail.php as instructed because the intercept is occurring in the webserver before formmail.php is called.
