Default Can you have the bad url redirect back to the form page?

I want to construct a form that if a field is not filled in correctly when a user submits the form. The user is redirected back to the form with the error written next to the field which is incorrect.

Is this possible? if so how?

    thanks in advance.

That doesn't tell you how to redirect back to the form itself with errors displayed.
