Default failure notice on email sent response, days later?

    Hi,
I really want to know what's going on with this.
I am doing testing and I get a 'Thanks, your email was sent' message.... and the email arrives. yay!

But then days later I get a mailer-daemon 'failure notice'..... apparently it is trying to send an email to mydomain@web90.extendcp.co.uk which is neither MY testing address nor my forms recipient (both valid).

(mailer-daemon address given above is not exact, it's actual domain name.com in place of 'mydomain')

I'm not even sure what part of the process this stems from. I sure don't require it though. What is it and how do I turn it off?

I've read through the FAQ, and didn't see this there.

    Thanks!
    J.

Yup, sure is, though it doesn't have my 'mangle' in it.... I used the wizard to build it and added my email as spec'd. pre-mangle.

I have 2 domains listed in my FormMail. I'm owner of one and support for another. The Def_Alert is a valid email on a valid domain (per my FormMail) - but not the same domain as the one generating the error.

Does the Def_Alert email addy have to belong to the sending domain?

    Thx.

    no.

    can u run a testalert test? http://www.domain/formmail.php?testalert=1

if u receive the alert, then thats good

in this case, u will need to look at what is being sent to mydomain@web90.extendcp.co.uk

it may have nothing to do with ur forms

    Yup, the test alert works.

The problem with the 'failure' notice is that I'm really not clear what's generating it. It seems to just be saying - 'Your email was sent!' but failing. The email I used when testing the form was valid. AND the email it's sending the failure notice out to is valid. Should a person who fills out a form get a confirmation email? Can I stop that?

Since I redirect using good_url, I don't really require this email to go out to a form user. I'd really rather just turn it off, if I could figure out what/where it is.

It's wierd because it doesn't appear to come from an error. It's just annoying.

    thx x2.

no, the user filling in the form does not get a confirmation email.

thats called auto responding and there are lots of steps to set it up in formmail

i think soemthing else is going on and the only way u can find out what is to see what is being sent
