    Default Suddenly - inundated with spam

    The form was working fine for a few months and keeping out spammers.

    This week, bam, 3+ spam messages an hour. I upgraded to the latest version of formmail. No change.

    I use it on several websites and they are not under attack. Just this website, and just this one form (out of 3 different forms in this site).

    What can I try to fix this problem?

    Hi,

    Does the spam include URLs?

    If so, you need to set these configuration settings in FormMail:
    http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/attack_..._many_urls.php
    http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/attack_...url_fields.php

    A lot of the spam has URLs in it. The form is such that no legitimate user would be sending URLs so I will try to block all URLs. Thanks.

    I changed the settings below, but spam with URLs is still pouring in:

    /* Help: http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/attack_..._many_urls.php */
    define("ATTACK_DETECTION_MANY_URLS",1);

    /* Help: http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/attack_...url_fields.php */
    define("ATTACK_DETECTION_MANY_URL_FIELDS",1);

    Hi,

    Is the spam definitely a form submission, not a direct email?

    Have you remembered to upload your changes to the correct file name on the server?

    What's the URL for your form? It's easy to test the spam detection. Just fill in the form with two URLs and you should get blocked with an appropriate message.

    Finally, what are some of the URLs that being sent? If they don't look like URLs then FormMail won't detect them.
