Template Failed

I have set up a Thank you template and I keep receiving this error. I know that I am doing something wrong but I don't know what I missed. This is my first time doing any coding and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

The following error occurred in FormMail :
template_failed

Error=Failed to process template "\var\www\html\Templates\thankyou.htm"

this is what I have in my formmailer.php

$TEMPLATEDIR ="\var\www\html\Templates\thankyou.htm"; // directory for template files; empty string

[CHMOD000]

The template directory is the folder where your templates can be found, not the template itself. Remove the file name at the end of your templatedir setting, and try again.
