    Default recipients field as derive_fields

    Hi Russ,

    Is it possible to make the required 'recipients' field a "derive_field"? ie
    derive_field = "recipients=toEmailUser + %40% + toEmailAddress";

    I can do that of course but I get the 'no_recipents" error. What if I included the recipients field on the form AND derived the field? Would the latter overwrite the former? (Try it and see he says.)

    I can do it using Javascript within the form but within your script would be less work.

    Hi,

    Why do you want to do these things? There might be an easier way.

    Yes, this should work fine. Switch on DB_SEE_INPUT in formmail.php to see the result so you know why you're getting the no_recipients error.

    I'm pretty sure the derived field would overwrite form field.

    Not sure if you remember - I am working for these disadvantaged kids in Vic. I am doing my best to avoid 'interference" in any way and simplify and validate email. Hence I am 'compiling' the address from two other fields. The derived field doesn't overide the recipients field, it seems, but seeing your note re DB_SEE_INPUT I will look at that first.

    Hi,

    Yes, I remember - but I don't think I know enough details.

    The recipients of a form submission should be pretty well fixed - ie. it's the person(s) responsible for processing the form.

    If you just want to hide this you can use AT_MANGLE.

    I guess I just don't understand what you're trying to protect against....

    Your comments bring me back to a point I originally knew but overlooked. I can't use FormMail to send mail direct to unknown recipients. I need to use FormMail to send mail via an 'adjudicator'. Hence the recipient will be/must be fixed. So my problem disappears.

    If you are interested, Russ, I will email the site address and name/password with some more info.

    Pls advise
