Hi,
Thanks for your report.
Yes, it looks like our changes for 8.27 are not compatible with PHP version 4.
We'll release 8.28 so that it works with PHP4.
Welcome to the Tectite Forums! You can download and get support for our free PHP FormMail (form processor) and other free software.
I am long time, happy user of the fm.
I updated to this new version. When I clicked the form I got this error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/XXX/formmail.php on line 3278
here is more info. line 3278 in error is as follow:
static function IsEmpty($s_value)
I simply updated from 8.2.4 using the "upgrade wizard". I replaced the 8.2.4 formmail.php with the new 8.2.7. and this parse error.
8.2.4 had no such problem (which was upgraded using the same "upgrade wizard"). So, for time being, I have reverted back to 8.2.4 and works without any problem.
I would like to use the new version, if the error issue can be resolved.
Since 8.2.4 works fine (on the same server), it indicates to me (I may be wrong) that there may be a bug in 8.2.7 formmail.

thanks russellr for your prompt reply.
Hi,
Version 8.28 is now released.
It's identical to version 8.27 except that it works on PHP 4 as well as PHP 5.

I used the wizard to create a trouble free form a couple days ago. Reported this problem.
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/XXX/formmail.php on line 3278
HOWEVER...
As instructed, I upgraded my formmail.php to 8.2.8 using the wizard.
Keeping in mind that the original form and formmail.php were both created in the wizard and upgraded using the wizard, I now receive this new error.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: session_start() in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/formmail.php on line 2681
Thanks

Thanks russellr,
The fm works fine now.
Hi,
Did you have a version of FormMail that did work?
If so, which version?
Please go back to that version and confirm it's still working.
If not, then I suspect there's a problem with PHP on your server and no version of FormMail is going to work for you until it's fixed.
