    Default PEAR Mail error: No From: address has been provided

    I am trying to send an e-mail message using formmail.php on a server requiring authentication. I have provided formmail.php with valid values for the following parameters:
    $PEAR_SMTP_HOST
    $PEAR_SMTP_PORT
    $PEAR_SMTP_USER
    $PEAR_SMTP_PWD
    However, when I submit a form, I get the following error message:
    The following error occurred in FormMail :
    mail_failed
    **********
    Error=Failed to send email

    More information:
    PEAR Mail error: No From: address has been provided
    I have checked and this error message is generated by the smtp.php PEAR module. What am I missing?

    Thanks for any help.

    I'm getting a similar error.

    The following error occurred in FormMail :
    mail_failed
    **********
    Error=Failed to send email

    More information:
    PEAR Mail error: No From: address has been provided

    It works on a windows based server, but not on the Linux based server I'm trying to get it to work with. Anyone got any advice?

    I had this problem. My form worked when the user entered an email address in the correct box, but if they left it blank it failed with the error you describe.

    To get round it I changed my form input field for getting email to 'emaily' ie:

    <input type="text" id="emaily" name="emaily">

    And I then put a new hidden input box called 'email' in my form ie:

    <input type="hidden" name="email" value="asdf">

    This seems to solve my problem. Hope that's helpful.
