    Angry Multi-page form data does not submit

    Hello,

    My multi-page form is working great...with one issue. If I dont place EVERY field from the previous pages as a HIDDEN field on the last page, the data does not submit. Surely I do not have to do this for every text field in my 4 page form?? Thats a lot of hidden fields and a lot of typing

    eg:

    Code:
    <input type="hidden" name="realname" value="$titleName" />
              <input type="hidden" name="email" value="$emailaddr" />
              <input type="hidden" name="location" value="$location" />

    the how-to guide isnt clear on this....

    Attention Russell: you might want to improve it!

    in my experience, normal data fields work fine without including them in later pages. they get emailed to you.

    special fields like email and realname are information used by formmail for performing the email function. these need to be defined on the last page of the multipage sequnce

    so, what i do is have these entered into other field names, like "EmailAddr" and "PersonName" and then on the last page I derive the special fields from these:
    HTML Code:
    <input type="hidden" name="derive_fields" value="email=EmailAddr,realname=PersonName" />
    this technique works well.

    you can find the list of special fields inside formmail - in an array called $SPECIAL_FIELDS

    Hi Crabtree,

    Thank you for your quick response.

    What I am getting is simply the email address and realname and thats it. I am able to move back and forth between pages and all the data is there, but when I submit, the email does not have any other data in it.

    I did a test and included a field from page 1 (of 4) and added the code below to the last page
    <input type="hidden" name="location" value="$location" />
    When I did this, it came through the email fine.

    How do I get all the other values though? They are simple text fields.

    have you tried the multipage sample you can download?

    it works fine without creating a hidden field for every value.

    try it and then look for what youre doin wrong

    Red face Re: Multi-page form data does not submit

    okay.. here we go...

    When I first downloaded the multi-form sample and placed it in my root directory, the script worked.

    When I move the script to /some-other/directory/

    it 'looks' like its working , but doesnt send the data through.?

    Is there an issue with having the form script in another directory? (My directory also uses '-' character in the name)

    Thanks for that --- it solved my problem.

    Unfortunately, I, too, am stumped on poor sono's problem down there.
