Default $return_link works, but form page doesn't fully load

The $return_link to the form works, but only part of the HTML form page loads. It's not getting the images and CSS.

Do you know what could be blocking the rest of it?

    This is the problem:

My custom HTML page is here:
    http://www.mysite.com/contact.html

but when the $return_link is clicked on the error page, fmbadhandler looks for it in the FormMail folder, here:
    http://www.mysite.com/formmail/contact.html

My error page with the $return-link is here: http://www.mysite.com/formmail/templates/error.html

Do you know how this can be corrected?

    Thanks

    Hi Jeremy,

I bet if you put your FormMail.php file on the root, it would work.

I suggest you get rid of that formmail folder, and put everything up one level.

    Instead of here:
    http://www.mysite.com/formmail/templates/

Your template folder would be here:
    http://www.mysite.com/templates/

That's a great-looking website, btw. I like it a lot. That transparency deal is neato.

Thanks James, I'll give it try.
Is what you suggest the standard/correct way of installing FormMail? Did I install it in a wrong way, or is there additional configuration that can be made with the links so that it would work the way I have it installed now?

    *Thanks for the compliment.

It just seems like most of the documentation is written that way (with formMail on the root).

In the FAQ, Russell puts it like this:
    http://www.tectite.com/vbforums/faq....formmail_where

But in your case, it seems like frmbadhandler is getting confused on where to find your return page. It also seems to me that since frmbadhandler is "advanced" error handling, it would be best not to throw it any curveballs. Keep it simple.

I could be totally blowing smoke, but I think its worth a try.

If you get the same results, then you can always put it back the way you had it and go to plan B.

Here's something. In the frmbadhandler.php configuration instructions, it says this:
    * Put simply, this means you need to put formmail.php in the same
    * directory or folder as your HTML form. When your form POSTs to
    * FormMail, FormMail retrieves the authentication details and passes
    * them to FMBadHandler so it can use them too.
Your contact form is on the root, but your formmail file is down a level.

    That could be your problem.

Thank you so much James. Just as you expected, with the formmail files moved into the root folder it works. However, only the message written is retained, the name and email address are not.

BTW, the info by Russel which you provided seemed to imply that the $return_link would work so long as the HTML contact form is kept in the same folder with FormMail.php. I couldn't resist the curiosity so I moved everything back into my old FormMail folder (including the HTML form of course), and it does work also.

Would you please let me know if it's normal that the message is retained but the name and email address are not? If not, do you know how this can be corrected so all fields retain the info?

Thanks again for your help and also for directing me to Russel's instructions. Now we have the option of doing it either one way or the other.

Good deal. Glad you got it working.

I don't know why its not retaining the name and email address. Seems to me if its retaining the message, it should retain the others as well.

I suggest you start a new thread. Call it "fmbadhandler doesn't retain fields?" - something like that. I think it will generate more attention that way.

Thank you for the suggestion James. I'll start the thread now. Getting all the info retained will make it perfect.
