Hi Jeremy,
What other problems did it create for you?
Welcome to the Tectite Forums! You can download and get support for our free PHP FormMail (form processor) and other free software.
When clicking the $return_link on the error page, fmbadhandler retains only the info that was written in the form's message field. It does not retain the name and email.
What needs to be corrected so that no info is lost?
Thanks
EDIT: For anyone having this problem, I found the solution for it in the following thread, however, although it seemed to work for me, it also created other peoblems for which I'm too inexperienced to solve:

Hi Jeremy,
What other problems did it create for you?
Very frustrating! By the time I finished writing a long description, I clicked submit, and I lost the message as my login had expired. Would the moderators please change that setting? It takes time to write a message.

James: Thanks for asking
Basically, when I made changes according to the given [$DERIVED_FIELDS] example, the required line no longer worked; emails went out even if those fields were left blank.
I tried adding the required line to [$DERIVED_FIELDS], and I also tried entering [$DERIVED_FIELDS] to formmail.ini.
I also had the same problem mentioned in that thread with receiving emails with realname and email listed twice; a minor problem, but I couldn't figure out how and where to write the actual changes.
In that thread Russel indicated that this name and email repopulation would be implemented in the "next" version, but aren't we already using the next version?
Hi,
The session timeout on the server was 24 minutes (the default for PHP).Very frustrating! By the time I finished writing a long description, I clicked submit, and I lost the message as my login had expired. Would the moderators please change that setting? It takes time to write a message.
We've increased it to 1 hour.
Personally, I've never hit that problem, but I have had my internet connection go down (change of IP address, so same effect) or my browser crash during a long reply. It's incredibly frustrating, I know.
So, I now have the habit of selecting the whole message and copying it to the clipboard before submitting or previewing the message.
Thanks to the operation of Murphy's Law, I haven't hit any such problem since taking these precautions (i.e. never had to recover from the clipboard).![]()

Hi Jeremy,
I went and looked at the contact form here:
http://www.billyjoeconor.com/fmail/contact.html
Is this your most current? I didn't see any derive_fields in it.
The mail_options "exclude" option should take care of that double field business:

Thanks for the clipboard tip Russel, and also for extending the login time.

Sorry James. I forgot to mention that I temporarily went back to the previous files. I want to make the changes again from scratch and will let you know when they're uploaded. Thank you.![]()
James:
After working on it all evening and night, i finally got the whole thing working perfectly: when clicking on the return link, the name and email fields get repopulated just like the message field, and the email content is now listed one time, as it should be.
I'm now so happy with it that I decided to post a very simple how-to for those who would also like to make this addition.
Thanks!![]()
Great news! Glad you got it all working. I just read your "How-to" message and it is very clear. Nice work.
BTW, I just installed Talkback - because it looked so cool on your site![]()
Had to jump a few hoops to get it working, but its all good now.

Thanks James.
I'm glad you're using TalKback. Richard Williamson, its developer, is one of the kindest people I've met on the net. Whether or not a donation has been made, I've noticed that there isn't a single support question he hasn't answered on his forum. Also, as I'm sure you've already noticed, the guestbook has alot more great features than I'm using, but I need to keep it simple for my use.
