    Default Blank Page on POST and testalert=1

    I'm posting to the formmail.php and I've tried to go directly to formmail.php?testalert=1 but either way I am getting a blank page in Firefox when it gets to the formmail.php URL.

    Has anyone had this issue before? I can load other php files and
    Code:
    <? phpinfo(); ?>
    just fine.

    Hello,

    I've inherited a website that is using formmail and unfortunately the formail has stopped working.

    In trying to learn how to use formail I have tried the example provided in the latest download (8.05) and I am having the same issues as described in this post (a blank formail page).

    On searching the forums etc I found the following 2 test scripts;

    http://www.tectite.com/vbforums/showthread.php?t=62

    These both work fine which I guess means PHP and the Webserver are right to go.

    In the sampleform and the formmail.php I changed the following lines to my email address;

    HTML
    Code:
     <input type="hidden" name="recipients" value="mymail@mymail.com.au" />
    PHP
    Code:
    $TARGET_EMAIL = array("^mymail@mymail\.com\.au$");

    /* Help: http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/def_alert.php */
    define("DEF_ALERT","mymail@mymail.com.au");
    and I updated the link to the formail page in the HTML forms action to point to the right place.

    I haven't changed anything else, and on submit I get a blank formail.php page.

    Appretiate any suggestions.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    Can you post a link to your form?

    Hi Ginger,

    This is a link to the test form.
    http://www.frameworkecm.com.au/formmail/sampleform.htm

    Also in this location are the 2 testmail scripts that are working fine.

    thanks

    I would start over and make sure that you edit the script with a plain text editor like Windows Notepad (or equivalent). Don't use a wysiwyg editor like Dreamweaver (which can corrupt the script).

    Thumbs up Re: Blank Page on POST and testalert=1

    Thanks ginger,

    You are absolutely correct using Notepad fixes the issue.

    I must say that it is seriously disturbing though as I code a lot of PHP in Dreamweaver without any issues (that I know of).

    Do you know why it would corrupt this script over and above any others?
    Also do you know of any more reliable PHP editors (I only use DW because I like some of the editing options).

    Thanks again.

    It's too bad that your thread got hijacked.

    Anyways, have you checked to see if mail can be sent through php? There are some simple test scripts to determine if you can send mail through php somewhere on this site (or in this forum), and that might be a good place to start diagnosing what is wrong.

    I believe it was server-side issue. I contacted the host and they seem to have fixed it. I however do not know the exact fix they did. PHP wouldn't mail out anything, so it was determined not to be an issue outside of this FormMail processor which is good news :-)

    Hi,

    The second poster has a link to the test scripts in the second post of this thread.

    I would also suggest that the first poster (sc0ttclark) try re-editing the script in a plain text editor like Notepad (or equivalent). The blank page makes it sound like the script has been corrupted.

    I'm sure it's not limited to this script. It is common knowledge that all scripts (cgi, pl, asp, php, etc.) should be edited in a plain text editor and uploaded in ascii format so as not to corrupt the script. I think it has to do with the line endings in the code.
