Default fopen error

Hello,

I'm attempting for the first time to use formmail on a site and during initial testing I've encountered the following error:

Unable to create check file "/fm42a1fe.txt": fopen(/fm42a1fe.txt) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied

Does anyone know what might be causing this? The emails appear to be sending fine when submit is pressed but the error emails are also coming in at the same time which could get pretty obnoxious if there are a lot of people submitting forms. Thanks in advance for any help.

I get the same error message, and have looked in de FAQ, but i can't find it at all. So maybe crabtree will be so kind to specify where it is hidden.

Thnx crabtree,

I've tried all different things,
like making a directory myself and chmod,
but finally i had to change CHECK_FOR_NEW_VERSION
and that did the trick.

thnx again for your fast and accurate answer
