    Default Form Field Value in HTML Email Subject Line

    Is there some way to have one of the entered form field values show up as part of the Subject line in the html form results email?

    I have tried the following field derivation in the form but this example leaves me with a blank subject line in the email:

    Code:
    <input type="hidden" name="subject" /><input type="hidden" name="derive_fields" value="subject=%'Text Part of Subject Line '%+formfieldname+%' More Text'%" />
    Is there something I'm missing?

    It works fine for me. What browser are you using?

    Maybe try giving the initial subject field an empty value ... or ... remove it.

    Also, make sure that the derive_fields tag is within the <form></form> tags.

    Thanks, Ginger, for the reply. I tried it with an empty value (<input type="hidden" name="subject" value="" />) and then completely removing that initial hidden subject field, using both IE7 and FF and still got a blank subject line in the html email. The derive_fields is definitely within the forms tags and when I use the subject in the ordinary manner (without the comment tags in the following code) the subject "South Lake Tahoe Arts and Wine Festival Application Info" shows up in the email just fine. As you can see in the following code I have some other hidden fields that all work ok - could there be some conflict with one of those?

    Code:
    <form name="" action="http://www.thunderbirdlodge.org/imagefrm.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" />
    <input type="hidden" name="recipients" value="testcfs4thunderbirdlodge.org" />
    <input type="hidden" name="env_report" value="REMOTE_HOST,REMOTE_ADDR,HTTP_USER_AGENT,AUTH_TYPE,REMOTE_USER">
    <!-- <input type="hidden" name="subject" value="South Lake Tahoe Arts and Wine Festival Application Info"> -->
    <input type="hidden" name="derive_fields" value="subject=%'Text Part of Subject Line '%+medium+%' More Text'%" />
    <input type="hidden" name="required" value="fullname,email">
    <input type="hidden" name="good_template" value="imagefrmconf.html">
    <input type="hidden" name="bad_template" value="infofrmerror.html">
    <input type="hidden" name="derive_fields" value="realname=fullname" />
    <input type="hidden" name="mail_options" value="HTMLTemplate=imagefrmmailconf.html,TemplateMissing=" />
    <input type="hidden" name="conditions1" value=":@
       @IF@file1@file1~/^.*\.jpg$/i@@You can only upload JPGs@" />
    <input type="hidden" name="file_names" value="file1=fullname.%'-'%.title1, file2=fullname.%'-'%.title2, file3=fullname.%'-'%.title3, file4=fullname.%'-'%.title4, file5=fullname.%'-'%.title5" />
    I can't imagine it would be anything with the server or my Outlook (2003) as the other fields all work properly. Any other ideas?

    Hi,

    The problem is that you have 2 derive_fields statements. The second one is overriding the first. Put them both in one statement, and separate with a comma.
