Default FormMail with any desired recipient

    Hi all,

I already use FormMail on smaller websites. Thanks for the free script!

Now I am looking for a form mailer for a community website. Each member has his own contact form with roughly 2.000 members.

Is FormMail a proper solution for forms that have a lot of different recipients?
Lets say I have 2.000 valid recipients with mailaccounts at 300 domains. As they are changing, I do not want to write each one in $target_email.

    Thanks!

i reckon with that many, and theyll be changing quite often, u need a database of email addresses

u then need some php to add into formmail (it has a Hook system for this purpose) to lookup the database to validate email addrs

if i was u, i'd contact russell and get him to write the code for u.

    Crabtree, thanks for your help!
Would writing all Email Addresses from the database to the ini file be a proper solution?

Contacting Russell may be helpful. As this is a low/no budget project I first want to get deeper into this before bugging him.

    yep, thats a good idea

if ur database creates an INI file whenever it changes then it should work a treat

PHP will eventually run out of memory tyo do the processing - u probably couldn't have 200,000 email addresses with a normal PHP setup

but a few thousand should work great

    crabtree, thanks.
How would the target_email look like im my case? Can I leave it with the default EMAIL_NAME."@yourhost\.com$" placeholder? Thanks, again.

if ur using an INI file with a recent version of Formmail, u dont need to worry about the $TARGET_EMAIL setting

I wanted to share my insights with the community:
Can you use tectite formmail for a community with 5.000 different recipients (not mailing them all at once, but each of them has her/his own form)

For me, it worked with an .ini file.
PHP4 failed reading such a big list. With PHP5 it is working fine.
Furthermore it turned out better, to update this file nightly instead of live.

    crabtree, thanks for your support.
