    Unhappy FormMail not working on Yahoo Small Business Site

    Please help me. I have no understanding of PHP script what so ever. I ordered FormMail because my "test" form worked when I created it, however, when I upload the test forms and the php file I get a web page with the following error message:

    An error occurred while processing the form .

    The staff at ____ have been alerted to the error .
    _____ apologizes for any inconvenience this error may have caused.

    I have recreated the form through the configuration wizard several times in the last 7 hours. At this point I am beyond frustrated.

    Is there an easy way to configure the code so that it will work with Yahoo! I have been searching this forum but am unable to digest what advice has been given.

    Please, HELP!!!

    I ran a test alert on your php file (http://www.smallwoodcompanies.com/co...hp?testalert=1) and I got an error message. The error is:

    "FAILED to send alert message. Check your server error logs."

    Here is what the directions state:

    If you ran testalert, but got an error message shown in the browser

    If you run the test alert but get a message in your browser indicating there was an error, you may need to contact your hosting provider and ask them why there was an error. You can also utilize the test mail scripts mentioned below.
    You may need to set one or more of these configuration settings inside FormMail to get your alert messages to work:

    Hi there...
    I had the same problem. I have been using Yahoo! Small business since about 1998, so I am kind of used to them changing stuff without telling any of us.

    I had to make three changes.

    In the formmail.php, I had to add the from user like this:

    /* Help: http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/from_user.php */
    $FROM_USER = "sales@alaskainmydreams.com"; // the default - setting not used

    I also set the from user to true like this:

    /* Help: http://www.tectite.com/fmdoc/set_sender_from_email.php */
    define("SET_SENDER_FROM_EMAIL",true);

    Then in the contact form, I had to add a from user there, too. Just before the submit button in the input area: (make sure you put the EAah3 in between the first and last part of your email address so you don't get spammers stripping your email address)

    <input type="hidden" name="mail_options"
    value="FromAddr=salesEAah3alaskainmydreams.com" />

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Lynne,
    Very helpful post. I'd only add that you need to specify the FROM address in the PHP/PERL Mail Process Setup (see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/smallbusiness/webhosting/php/php-17.html ) and that it has to be a valid email address in your domain.

    I've had a form working on Yahoo Small Business since the beginning of the year, but have had a recurring problem with occasionally getting emails with no message. I've got everything set as you do except the SET_SENDER_FROM_EMAIL- I'll try that.
    Could you answer a couple of questions for me- I've had no help from Yahoo support and have spent many hours trying to figure out this problem.
    1. According to Yahoo's help "You will also need to indicate the path to the Yahoo! mail program, Sendmail. The path to Sendmail is /usr/sbin/sendmail."
    Did you ever do this? If so, how?
    2. Do you ever receive blank emails (to, from and subject all as usual, but no message).
    Thanks!
    Eileen

    Hi there, Eileen.

    Never had to touch either one of those things you talked about. Didn't have to specify sendmail and already had the FROM specified.

    If I'm not mistaken, I think it is using PHP mail and not sendmail. I may be mistaken.
    Mine just works. I can send you my php file if you need me to. My contact form, too, if need be. I don't put a lot of junk in my contact form. I've never had a blank email, either.

    Send me an email at sales@alaskainmydreams.com and I'll send it to you.
