    Default Form submission error

    Hi

    I have tectite on my site and was wondering if someone could look at my page and see why i will not work please

    the page is http://netsuregroup.com/about.html

    Please can someone have a sift through the code on this page and see if they can work out what the problem is with the form?

    nb: i recently changed the form from tables to pure html and thought it was working but its not.

    All help will be greatly appreciated

    thanks

    Darren

    Seems to be working to me. I sent a test message and received the confirmation page.

    The page I looked at contained tables so maybe you went back to the other version.

    Hi if you look at the top of the page it says error.

    nothing gets sent.

    the only thing that has changed is the form.

    Reason i changed the form from tables to html os because i couldnt validate the page with the form with tables within it, hence the html.

    any ideas?

    Cheers

    Sorry, that's very strange. You shouldn't get the success page if there's an error and I can't find anything in formmail.php that generates that "Failed Form Submission" message at the top of the tab, but then I'm using version 8.20, not 8.22 which is what you're using.

    It's all actually html; tables are html.

    The only thing I can see that could cause an issue is that you don't have the "type" in your input fields, and the hidden fields have the type at the end of the tag. The "type" needs to be specified in all fields ... and prior to any "values", so change your fields to look like this:

    HTML Code:
    <input type="hidden" name="recipients" value="ryan.buckardCP4AGQKRnetsuregroup.com"  />
    ... and input fields should look like:

    HTML Code:
    <input type="text" name="realname" style="width: 80%" />

    Your hidden fields should also be formatted as:

    <input type="hidden" name="whatever" value="whatever">

    The "value" needs to be after "type" and "name".

    All of this has been working for ages. the changes you are talking about are the code tectite provided

    the only thing changed is how i wrote the form

    if i make a required field that doesnt exist

    when you submit the other fields are all there and it works but comes through as an error

    doing my head in this lol

    thanks anyway

    Actually, if you look at Tecite's sampleform.htm, it is not formatted like you have it. However, I always thought that the way the tags were formatted only affected Formmail's returned values when using fmbadhandler.

    Why would you make a field required if it doesn't exist? Of course this is going to cause a problem.

    I see that in your "required" tag, you have the field "message", but it should actually be called "Message" ... with a capital M.

    Also, I see that you have a space in the "Contact number" field name, which can cause problems down the road, so I would make that ContactNumber ... or Contact_Number. In other words, no spaces in field names, file names or directory names.

    Using your form code, changing only 3 things...
    1. used my tectite
    2. my ini file for the email address
    3. changed your required field 'message' to uppercase 'Message' to match your field name (as in ginger's message above)
    and I get

    Thanks! We've received your information and, if it's appropriate, we'll be in contact with you soon.

    Your form submission was processed by (8.12), available from www.tectite.com.

    http://www.nmprc.state.nm.us/test2.html

    email submission

    email: email
    realname: realname
    Contact_number: Contact number
    Message: Message
    submit: submit request

    and yep to Ginger, my forms are sometimes deeply imbedded in tabs, divs, tables, etc...shouldn't make any difference in validation if you code it right.

    one addition
    you have the same closing syntax on all your input tags
    <input name="recipients" value="me" type="hidden"/>

    and it should be
    <input name="recipients" value="me" type="hidden" /> (space needed before closing tag)
