Default Incporating FormMail form into another web page

Can I incorporate my formmail form into another webpage instead of having to link to it in a separate page?

    Hi,

    Yes.

You just need to copy and paste everything from <form>...</form> into the right place in your page.

Also, I recommend you copy the <style> and <script> sections from the <head> into the <head> section of your page.

Many thanks, Russell. (I already tried to reply, but must have missed the "submit reply" button.

I'll try your suggestions. I'm not sure if the simple online website builder than I'm using allows direct html changes, but I'll try. I plan to go to something more sophisticated soon, but this is my first attempt at building a website and my host's WebBuilder package is very east to use.

    Hello again.

I have tried doing as you suggest, but I have encountered a problem. If I include the style stuff in the header, the text in other parts of the page changes font, but if I leave out the style stuff the form looses its formatting.

Is it possible to see the contents the file which FormMail imports to set the styles, so I can try to find what causes this? It seems as though something in your style sheet is overriding the inline font selection in the outer parts of my page. In particular there is a master border block which should be identical on all pages, but whatever I do, on the form page its font is wrong.

    Hi,

Yes, download the stylesheet from here: http://www.tectite.com/public_downloads

You can install it on your server and link to it instead.

You can then modify it as required. There's a global setting of the font near the top of the stylesheet. Just comment that out (or remove it).

    Thanks Russell, that worked fine.

I am puzzled about how style sheets actually operate. In that global declaration you set both font style and font size. Local style declarations in my page seem to be able to override the size but not the style. Can you recommend a reasonable prmer that explains such things?

    Hi,

    That's good news.

We're actually going to release a new version of formdesigneruser.css that *doesn't* set the font style.

    It's currently being tested.

CSS is simple to understand but sometimes complicated to get right. It's complicated because the targeting of styles on HTML elements is sometimes unexpected. Also, there are the usual browser differences which makes things worse.

We use two books for working with CSS:
    1. "CSS: The Definitive Guide" by Eric A. Meyer
    2. "CSS Mastery: Advanced Web Standards Solutions" by Andy Budd, and others.

Many thanks for that. I look forward to the new .css file when you release it.

I shall try to find those books (if I have time to read them!!)
