    Default messages cut short

I've set <textarea name="message" rows="8" cols="60" wrap="hard" maxlength="1000"></textarea> but messages are still being cut off at around 500 characters and spaces (I used to have maxlength set to 500 and that worked). Any ideas on this? Is there another way of setting the maximum length?

500 seems low - formmail has a setting called MAXSTRING which defaults to 1024

if that's not it, make sure ur HTML <form> tag specifies method="POST"

Thanks, but MAXSTRING is set to the default value and I always use method="POST". Anyway, I've now got rid of MAXLENGTH from TEXTAREA and that seems to have done the trick (still don't understand it, though, as MAXLENGTH was set to 1000).
