    Default FormMail PHP Bad Handler Errors

    My form is here - http://www.1-800gadgets.com/order.html

    Currently name and email are the only required fields. If one of the fields are left blank - I get a blank screen.

    If I take out the following line out of the form

    Code:
     <input type="hidden" name="bad_url" value="http://1-800gadgets.com/fmbadhandler.php" />
    I do see the error page template successfully. It is only when I add the bad_url line do I see the blank screen.

    In formmail.php I set the following:

    Code:
     define("PUT_DATA_IN_URL",false);	// set to true to place data in the URL
     		    		    			// for bad_url redirects
    based upon a post I saw in the forums. What else should I be looking at?

    Thanks -
    Barb

    PS - I agree with Tee (who is the one that pointed me to your site). I would be willing to pay for a program that would automate this setup and would allow me to setup a quick and easy online order form without credit card processing.

    Hi,

    I tried going directly to fmbadhandler with:
    And I get a blank screen.

    That's incorrect - I should get some error messages on the screen.

    This suggests that fmbadhandler.php has been damaged or corrupted in some way.

    Try downloading it again, and only edit with Windows Notepad. If uploading with FTP make sure you set ASCII mode (not binary).

    hmm, do you have configured your fmbadhandler.php?

    if i try to browse directly to the fmbadhandler.php url on my server there appears
    the following message:

    "Form Error

    Your form submission failed due to the following reason:"

    if i try to browse to your url, then there's nothing displayed.
    but there should...

    I re-downloaded the file and made 2 configuration changes:

    Code:
    $TARGET_URLS = array(http://www.1-800gadgets.com);		// default; no URLs allowed
    and

    Code:
       $TEMPLATEURL = $SCHEME.$SERVER."/templates";
    those are the only two changes I've made to frmbadhandler.php. I still see a blank screen. I confirmed uploading in ascii mode.

    I ran testurlopen.php and received the following:

    PHP version is: 4.4.1

    Safe mode is: Off (this is good!)

    URL open succeeded!

    Does this help?
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi,

    Yes, your testurlopen test is good!

    However, you said you specified this in FMBadHandler:
    $TARGET_URLS = array(http://www.1-800gadgets.com);
    You're missing the quotes, and this could be the cause of the problem. It should be:
    PHP Code:
    $TARGET_URLS = array("http://www.1-800gadgets.com/");

    That helped! If I access the frmbadhandler.php - I get the following message instead of a blank screen. Which I believe is correct.
    Form Error

    Your form submission failed due to the following reason:

    However, if I leave the password field blank I then see this message:

    "insession specified, but no data found in session"

    Thanks,
    Barb

    Hi,

    I just tried your form and it seems to be working fine.

    Submitting a blank form provides the appropriate error page.

    I made the following designation in the order.html page

    Code:
     <input type="hidden" name="bad_template" value="errors.html" />
    However, if I leave the email field blank or the name field blank, my custom error page does not appear.

    I only see "insession specified, but no data found in session"

    Thanks,
    Barb

    Hi,

    OK, I'm confused.

    I go to: http://www.1-800gadgets.com/order.html

    and click "Place order" without enter *any* data and I get the error page.

    I've now tried it again, and I see the message you're reporting.

    My best guess is that your server is not handling PHP sessions properly.

    Set PUT_DATA_IN_URL to "true" and re-test.

    If all is OK, then it is a problem with PHP sessions and you'll need to contact your hosting provider to get it fixed.
