    Lightbulb Moving commenting & configuration

I do like formail. However, I hate digging for and through the configuration section. I hate this so much I actually pulled much of the commenting out of the config section and placed it in a seperate file. Unfortunately that was also about 3 versions or so ago and I am putting off updating my version because I dont want to have to do it again.

It was last mentioned in a another post about August 28 of 2006 about possibly moving all the commenting out of the config section to another file. Is this still a possibility soon?

Removing the commenting to an external file and moving the config section to the top of the script would make this script beyond the best ever!

I also have to agree that having all the files in one download or on one page for download would be nice. Trying to find some of the other files originally was a royal pain.

By the way have any of the other files been updated that we need to know about?

    Just some thoughts and hopes.

Thank you for a great script

    Lori

    Hi Lori,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Good news....version 8 of FormMail will have all the configuration documentation removed and placed on the main website.

It's a big job, but progress is being made.

The Config Wizard, which most people should use, provides a download of the sample form and the configured FormMail (and a language pack for our non-English speaking friends).

This keeps it a simple and small package.

The other possible files, I guess, are:
    1. Sample good template.
    2. Sample error template
    3. FMBadHandler
    and possibly verifyimg and verifytest.

I think this starts to become a little too complicated.

People need to get an easy start and then move onto the more complex features.

However, we do have plans to make the Wizard really clever and give you exactly what you need.

I don't suppose there is an ETA for vers 8?

If it is due out soon(ish) I will wait to upgrade.
    Thank you

    Hi,

    Hopefully sometime in April.

But, I recommend you upgrade to 7.15 (or 7.14) now as you'll get the benefits of the extra spam protection now.

    Hi,

FormMail has now been upgraded and had its configuration documentation and version history moved to the main website.

To upgrade, use the Wizard and select version 8.00.
